A mother who forbids her daughter to see her father sometimes resorts to methods reminiscent of dog training. She doesn't just set conditions; she builds a system of rewards and punishments to root out the girl's love for her father from her mind. The child becomes an object of manipulation. Her feelings, desires, and attachments are all subordinated to one goal: to make the daughter hate her father and voluntarily renounce meetings. This is cruel. It is not education. It is breaking the psyche.

What does "strict dog training" mean in the context of parental conflict

Dog training is a system of developing conditioned reflexes. In the case of a mother and daughter, the mechanism is simple: the girl is rewarded (with affection, gifts, permissions) when she says or does something against the father. And punished (with shouting, deprivation of phone, ignoring) when she shows interest in or misses him. Over time, the girl develops a fear: any mention of her father = pain. She stops even thinking about him because she subconsciously fears punishment.

The mother may not realize that she is training her daughter. She believes that she is "raising," "protecting," or "teaching her to treat men properly." But in essence, it is emotional abuse that leaves scars for life. The girl loses the ability to trust her feelings. After all, if her sincere love for her father causes her mother's anger, something must be wrong with her.

What does strict dog training look like in practice

The mother may: require the daughter to repeat the phrase "Dad is bad, he abandoned us" every evening before bedtime. Punish her with silence for a week if she accidentally says "dad" in a conversation. Give gifts only after the daughter writes a letter to her father refusing visits. Force the daughter to watch videos where the father is portrayed in a bad light (such as recordings of arguments). Think up tests: "If you love me, you won't go to see him." Deprive her of food or lock her in her room for showing interest in her father's gifts. Any leverage is used: from sweets to internet access.

The girl quickly learns: to survive in this system, she needs to be her father's "opponent." She starts calling her father herself and saying: "Don't come, I hate you." Does she really believe this? No. But the fear of punishment is stronger than love.

Why does a mother resort to dog training

The reasons may be different. Resentment towards the ex-husband (infidelity, violence, financial problems). The desire to control the daughter as the only object of affection (jealousy of the father). Psychological disorder (such as borderline personality disorder). Transfer of her own childhood traumas (she herself was once separated from her father). Fear of loneliness ("If the daughter will communicate with him, she will love him more and eventually leave with me"). The mother often does not see herself from the outside. She sincerely believes that "this is the right thing." It is almost impossible to convince her otherwise.

How to recognize strict dog training from the outside

Teachers, neighbors, relatives from the mother's side may notice: the girl speaks about her father in rote phrases, like a robot ("he doesn't pay alimony, he doesn't love me"). She is afraid even to look in the direction of her father if he appears on the street. She develops tics, fears, panic attacks after mentioning her father. She cries at night but claims that "it's from joy." If you see these signs, don't be silent. Report to the child protection authorities. This is not "interference in a foreign family," but protection of the child from psychological abuse.

What to do if the mother trains the daughter

First — stay calm. Screams and threats will only reinforce the mother in her righteousness. Second — gather evidence: records of threats, correspondence where the mother forbids visits, testimonies of witnesses (teachers, educators). Third — immediately file a lawsuit seeking to determine the order of communication and requiring a psychological examination of the child for the parent alienation syndrome. Fourth — through the court, demand the transfer of the child to yourself for a period of time (for example, during summer vacation) to pull her out of the "dog training" environment. If the court proves that the mother is harming the child's psyche, it may change the child's place of residence.

Simultaneously, the father should work with a child psychologist specializing in victims of parental alienation. A long process, but there is a chance.

A broken 10-year-old girl can grow up to be a woman who doesn't know how to love, is afraid of men, and hates herself. No revenge on the ex-husband is worth a broken child's soul. Mothers, stop. Fathers, don't give up.
