What if you go out on the court without an opponent? Without a net? It sounds absurd. But modern technology has made this not only possible but also incredibly effective for training. The tennis of the future is a game with robots, lasers, and projections.
The most popular novelty of 2026 was the new generation of pneumatic cannons (robotic servers). They no longer simply shoot the ball into a certain area. Smart algorithms allow the robot to remember how you hit and return the ball to your convenient hand (or vice versa, hit into an inconvenient one, like a real opponent).
Such robots can spin the ball like a forehand or backhand, mimic a topspin or a sliced shot.
What to do without a net? Augmented Reality (AR) technology projects a virtual net and even the lines of out on the court. The athlete sees the boundaries of the field through special goggles, and if the ball goes past the projection, the system counts it as a fault.
This allows for training in any gym where there is no marking. The technology is actively used in indoor tennis academies in Scandinavian countries, where there is a lot of snow.
Another innovation is the "smart" court. Under the synthetic surface of the court are pressure sensors and LED lights. The LEDs can draw circles-misses on the floor. The player's task is to hit the ball into the flashing sector. If he hits it — the floor changes color and emits a signal. If not — the system signals a fault.
This develops shot accuracy better than any opponent.
Modern simulators can not only simulate balls but also crowd reaction. The system recognizes a powerful shot and starts the applause recording. If you are losing points, the virtual scoreboard shows the score 15-40. The neural network can even shout in the voice of a coach: "Come on, gather!" This trains psychological resilience.
Playing alone is no longer a sad "hitting against the wall." It is a high-tech process that allows you to refine every move.
